Ways to earn

Some Points are recorded automatically by the system and those will hit your account as soon as the transaction completes. Points recorded by hand are entered into the system as staff are able to work on whatever the Points are for.

Redeeming Points

You can use Points at checkout if you have enough Points. Paying with Points won’t be shown as an option if you don’t have enough Points.

When the Rewards store opens, you’ll be able to redeem your Points for uniquely Japanese-only products, whether that’s colored file folders, kitchenware or autographed anime goods.

Items are on a first-to-redeem, first-to-receive basis. Items cannot be held until you have enough Points.

Shipping is free.* But, to keep it free, boxes are only shipped at the end of the month if you redeem the items before the 27th of that month and if the boxes are 90% full. Boxes that haven’t shipped for 3 months will be sent out at the end of the third month for free regardless of how much is in the box.

If you’d like your redeemed item(s) to ship immediately, you have the option to pay for shipping and handling.

* If shipped to any location in the contiguous states of the United States. You’ll be asked to pay the shipping fee if shipped anywhere else.

FAQ

Hi, I took classes or attended events with you and didn’t know about this Program. Can I get Points for those things now?

If you’ve been a student of mine since before I started the Rewards Program, I’ve retroactively added Points for actions that currently count (see Ways to earn). You have 2 weeks from when you make an account, whichever is more recent, to tell me if I missed something. After that, only future actions will give you Points.

Why didn’t my attendance count?

You’ll only get Points the first time you participate in a workshop even if the workshop is held multiple times (as separate events) in a year.

I messaged you and I still don’t see my Points.

So sorry for the delay! I’m working on automating and streamlining this as much as I can but some of this just has to be done by hand.

If you received a reply after submitting your support request, then it’s in the queue and I’ll get to it as soon as possible.

It can take up to 2 months to process any Points updates.

What happened to all my Points?

Some possible explanations might be:

  • creating multiple accounts to mine Points
  • continuing behaviors in classes and events after being asked to stop
  • creating a hostile environment in the Discord community
  • abandoning your account for over a year

I would have to take a look at your account for the exact reason. Message me with the username and email address for your account.

Can I buy more Points?

This Rewards Program is an incentive to study Japanese and allowing Points to be bought would kind of defeat that purpose.
